Fluorspar (Fluorite)

Fluorspar (CaF₂), also known as fluorite, is a key industrial mineral used in steelmaking, chemical production, and the manufacture of glass, ceramics, aluminum, and hydrofluoric acid. Universal Minerals Trading Company (UMTC) supplies high-purity fluorspar from reliable reserves in Pakistan, meeting the needs of various industrial applications.

As demand grows for clean energy, aluminum smelting, and battery technologies, fluorspar is increasingly recognized as a critical mineral. UMTC supports this shift by expanding its sourcing network and providing consistent, high-quality supply to industries across the globe.

Supply Structure

  • Metallurgical Grade      –      > 60% to < 95% CaF₂
  • Acidspar Grade      –      > 97% CaF₂
  • Sand       –      > 40% CaF₂
  1. Metallurgical Grade Fluorspar (Metspar)
    • Composition: Contains 60% to 85% CaF2.
    • Applications: Predominantly used as a flux in the metallurgical industry to remove impurities and reduce slag viscosity during iron and steel production. It is also applied in cement and glass manufacturing, where the presence of some impurities is permissible.
  2. Ceramic Grade Fluorspar
    • Composition: Typically contains 85% to 95% CaF2.
    • Applications: This grade is crucial in the ceramics industry, where it helps lower the melting point of ceramic materials and enhances their physical properties. It is used in the production of high-quality ceramics and porcelain.
  3. Acid Grade Fluorspar (Acidspar)
    • Composition: High purity, ranging from 97% to 99% CaF2, with minimal impurities.
    • Applications: Essential for producing hydrofluoric acid, Acid Grade Fluorspar is utilized in aluminum smelting, steel manufacturing, and the creation of specialty glass and ceramics. Its high purity is vital for processes where even minimal contamination can impact product quality.
